Ceiling Treatment - Board and Timber Battens

Timber battens fixed to the underside of the slab support the ceiling boards.

For in-situ concrete slabs supported by profiled steel decking:

  • Ceiling plasterboard board must be at least 8kg/m².
  • C must be greater or equal to 300mm for use with RD (E-FS-1).
  • D must be greater or equal to 100mm with ceiling board or 8kg/m².

    For pre-cast unit with screed floors:

  • Ceiling plasterboard board must be at least 8kg/m².
  • D must be greater or equal to 100mm for use with RD (E-FC-1).

    All ceiling joints must be sealed with tape or sealant.

    Ceiling treatment must be installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

    Greater performance can be gained by installing acoustic mineral wool or acoustic quilt in the void space and/or using resilient bars to hang the ceiling board on.
