FITTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR RP78 / RP78Si A weather and acoustic seal for rebated frames. RP78 can be either mitred or butt jointed to the head and jambs without removing the door. Slotted for installation adjustment, the soft silicon bulb accomodates a tighter seal with a tamperproof coverstrip, provides a fit and forget feature. (Fig. 1.) RP78Si conforms to BCA C3.4 for 200°C medium temperature smoke doors. Location: Head and Jambs of single or double butt hinged doors. Min/Max Gap: 0mm/6mm Used in conjunction with: RP8Si, RP38Si, RP99Si. Fixing Method: Zinc plated cross recess head S.T. screws of the appropriate size are supplied. NOTES: If a face mounted seal is to be fitted to the bottom of the door, fit the RP78 to the door frame first. (user determined) If fixing to rebated frames of single doors, a long backset door latch is recommended. INSTALLATION: When cutting the aluminium slide back the gasket then cut gasket to size with a stanley knife. Use a wooden spacer between the vice jaws when clamping the aluminium to ensure an accurate cut. An accurate joint is important and good measurements necessary. CAUTION!!: Once the coverstrip has been fitted it may be damaged if removed. (1) Machine cut the aluminium to the required length. (2) With the door closed and the coverstrip removed, position the seal at the head of the door first. The door should rest against the RP78 gasket lightly. Screw fix in the centre of the adjusting slots. Proceed to fit the seals. (3) Test the door for correct fitment by inserting a sheet of paper between the door and the doorseal. SHut the door and adjust the seal to ensure a consistent seal all around. A tight seal is not necessary. The door should firmly hold the paper to ensure a perfect seal. (4) Open and shut the door to check for correct latching. Tighten all fixing screws. (5) Snap in the head seal cover strip. (Fig. 1.) (6) Proceed with vertical cover strips.
