Timber Acoustic Fencing
Ideal for applications where high levels of noise reduction are required. Much more than just a fence, this heavy duty solution is ideal for residential, commercial, industrial, railway and highway applications and can reduce noise levels by as much as 32dB. while maintaining an attractive and natural facade. Available in four versions: | |
|
Our Acoustic Fencing system comprises unique interlocking 'V' tongue and grooved 125mm boards. This special profile has been carefully developed to locate the boards in such a way that eliminates gaps that sound will easily travel through, even when the boards shrink and expand with changes in weather. The fence is finished with a capping and counter rail.
The timber posts used for most applications up to 4.0m high are a unique design that traps the boards to provide continuous sound insulation. For barrier heights from 2.1m - 4.0m the timber posts are reinforced with a steel spur, coated black. All timber used is pressure treated and covered by a 25 year guarantee. This gives it lasting protection above and below ground against all wood-boring pests and all forms of dry and wet rot. STANDARD BARRIER This is essentially a 'reflective' noise barrier commonly used for residential or commercial applications where traffic noise is the main concern. Noise hitting the dense barrier is reflected back towards the source and only the diffracted noise is shadowed over the top. The higher the barrier, the better the noise reduction will be, but in domestic situations its unlikely to be much higher than 2.0 - 2.5m. The following data shows the results of field measurements, which simulated the British Standard test procedure. |
| PERFORMANCE | SOUND REDUCTION | ||
| Distance from noise source | 2m high fence | 2.5m high fence | 3.0m high fence |
| 5m | 13.6dB | 16.5dB | 17.4dB |
| 10m | 11.3dB | 13.5dB | 14.1dB |
| 15m | 10.3dB | 12.5dB | 12.9dB |
| 20m | 9.2dB | 11.9dB | 12.4dB |
| Rating according to BS EN 1793-2:1998, Category=B3, Lab 28dB, Superficial mass 28kg/m². | |||

STANDARD BARRIER PLUS The Standard Barrier can be upgrades to the STANDARD BARRIER PLUS.
With this system a sound absorptive layer, covered with a protective membrane, is incorporated on one side of the boards to further reduce noise by an average of 4dB. This improvement is due to the fact that less noise is diffracted over the top as it is absorbed by the acoustic layer. This system is usually used when fencing off machinery or HVAC units. Rather than the noise being reflected away, hitting something reflective then bouncing back towards the barrier again, it is partially absorbed instead. The following data shows the results of field measurements, which simulated the British Standard test procedure. |
| PERFORMANCE | SOUND REDUCTION | ||
| Distance from noise source | 2m high fence | 2.5m high fence | 3.0m high fence |
| 5m | 17.6dB | 20.5dB | 21.4dB |
| 10m | 14.3dB | 17.5dB | 18.1dB |
| 15m | 14.3dB | 16.5dB | 16.9dB |
| 20m | 13.2dB | 15.9dB | 16.4dB |
| Rating according to BS EN 1793-2:1998, Category=A3, Lab 32dB, Superficial mass 33kg/m². | |||

HIGHWAY BARRIER and HIGHWAY BARRIER PLUS Essentially the same as the Standard Noise Barrier fencing but the Highway versions are affixed to galvanised steel 'I' beam posts for additional strength and rigidity, meeting not only the stringent Highways Agency standrad BS EN 1794-1 and 2, but also prove ideal for application in exposed locations subject to high wind loading. Posts can be timber clad to match.
GATES If the acoustic fencing is being used to form an enclosure around a noisy we can also incorporate acoustic gates within the assembly.
